Firmware version 4.0 of the Barracuda Web Filter includes:
- Support for Cisco WCCP version 1- and version 2-enabled routers/switches. The Barracuda Web Filter can act as a Web cache engine, allowing forwarding of HTTP traffic via a single WCCP-enabled router. Multiple Cisco WCCP-enabled routers connected to one or more Web cache servers is not supported by the Barracuda Web Filter at this time.
- Barracuda Control Center (BCC) Integration. The Barracuda Web Filter can now integrate with the Barracuda Control Center such that administrators can control multiple Barracuda Web Filters from one location. Each Barracuda Web Filter can be connected to the BCC by "joining'' via the ADVANCED -> Control Center screen.
- Expanded performance statistics. Among the enhancements to the BASIC -> Status page are indicators for various capacity limits, such as:
- Reporting/Log Storage indicates the percentage of available storage used to store traffic logs and reporting data.
- Throughput indicates the total flow of traffic through the Barracuda Web Filter measured in Mb/s.
- TCP Connections indicates the connections used by the Barracuda Web Filter to service Internet traffic, as a percentage of the maximum number of connections that can be handled by the system.
- Barracuda Control Center Status indicates whether or not the Barracuda Web Filter has been connected, or "joined", to the Barracuda Control Center.
- Expanded Reporting Abilities. Administrators can disable the Barracuda Web Filter native reporting engine if they choose not to generate reports on the appliance. In addition, the following new time-based reports are now available:
- Top Users By Time Spent
- Top Users By Session Time
- Top Domains By Session Time
- Top Domains By Time Spent
- Top Categories By Time
- Top Categories By Session Time
- Sessions By Domains
- Sessions By Category
- Selective Virus Scanning. Administrators can select File (MIME) Types to enable/disable for virus scanning. This can be done from the BASIC -> Virus Checking screen.
- Transparent authentication with Novell eDirectory.
- Additional "Safe'' operating mode. The Barracuda Web Filter will automatically shift to Safe mode in the event that System Load exceeds normal thresholds for an extended period of time. In Safe mode, like Audit mode, traffic is neither filtered nor logged, alleviating load on the system. If the System Load, as viewed on the Status page, returns to normal in a timely fashion, the device will resume Active mode.
- DC Agent support for Windows Server 2008. Your server must be patched with the following hotfix below prior to installing the DC Agent.
